Among the darkness, there is still light.

Its a cold day, snow on the ground, the sky is dark and grey. Cars sliding off the road, the news speaks of justice and there are people losing their jobs from statements made. We find fault everywjere we look, sometimes on purpose….sometimes by accident. Regardless, we know it is there. Coming up on holidays, we know that our financial burden with be impressed upon as we buy things we cannot afford for people that we choose to please.

It is human nature to please others, even when we feel they dont deserve it. This can create a difficult and dangerous downward spiral effecting our personal opinions and using behaviors that can become dangerously prevalent to those of us who suffer from addiction. Just remember, you are not in this alone, you do not have to face things alone, and I personally will do all I can to help those in need. There is always someone out there that has a heart full of love, a desire to make a difference and a stranger willing to help.

The relationships forged in my path to recovery have helped me create a network of people I can rely on when shit gets heavy. Lean on me, and do not feel bad about it. This is my duty as a facilitator….to help those in need any way that I can. That being said, Refuge Recovery Kalamazoo will be meeting at the regularly scheduled times on Christmas and New Years Day. Know that I will be there to share laughter and joy, in a potential time of darkness and sadness.

With Much metta
