I love music. It is always there for me whether I am successful, struggling, pondering, recovering, writing, drawing-always there FOR ME! It has always been therapy, kept me off the edge. Songs in my head got me through my nights in jail, my nights where tears fell and fell-and nights where I was simply in hell. It was there, helping me in such an odd and fascinating way. Usually, it is just the beat, but because my hearing is dissipating, I have to read the lyrics. Wanna talk about holy shit-read some of your favorite songs that you know all the words to, then…..reminisce on what you read. You may know the words by singing them, but when they are written-they take a completely different form.
Today, there is a song lyric that really hits hard, and I wanted to blog about it. Simple as that.
“Put me at ease, brought out my best.
I let you in, ignored the mess. “
This lyric came across the screen while sitting at a red light. I don’t typically have the music playing with words-just happened to be that way, as I was singing Dethrone prior to changing my playlist and I didn’t know the words. To couple this with the observation I made while at the Locks (video is on facebook if you are interested) I observed a barge with piping-a commodity….somewhat necessary for production. Then another with Rocks on it.
The analogy that I came up with on the rocks was this. Something so seemingly trivial-as a rock…..something to many of us is just a rock-is something of substantial value to someone else. Three full barges worth of value to someone else. Let us stop being so quick to think that everyone hates our existence, or is even remotely upset that we are here. There is a barge worth of value in all of us. Just stay strong; stay focused, and if necessary in your instance-STAY SOBER!
Much love.
