Tyson vs. Paul-My Take

I am glad this fight is over, because it never should have happened in the first place. While I respect the “Spectacle” of the former YouTube punk and Iron Mike show boating for money, I find it quite strange that this even happened. Either way, Jake Paul came out winning, and Tyson-just simply got paid. The entertainment came from the build-up and less from the fight. I fell asleep during the free live stream on Netflix.

It wasn’t because I was not interested, it was because….well I was bored. Boxing is a competitive sport. The lightweights and the ladies had me engaged until it was too late for me to keep my eyes open. I laid in bed and snuggled the little ones, while waiting for the fight to occur. Falling asleep was the best option, especially when I watched the replay this morning. I enjoyed watching Mike and Paul slug it out-at 10x instead of watching it draw out into round after round of Tyson gassing out. This fight turned me off of boxing for good.

It goes to show that money influences sports still, regardless of capacity. This was a sanctioned fight, with the rules amended by the fighters, for the sake of money. I am not completely sure of the purse amount, but I used to get the shit kicked out of me for free when I fought MMA, and I never dreamed of watching something like this go down. I loved MMA and I still occasionally practice my Kata from my TKD days from time to time. Either way, this was a money driven event that made a TON of money for the two fighters. Barrios and Ramos had me engaged the entire fight, the rest put me to sleep.

I am not complaining, good for them to figure out a way to make money. Getting slapped then punched in the face, then balking about being able to beat an old man twice my age is not the way I would do it though. I wish Mike would have knocked the snot out of the little brat. But the rules wouldn’t allow it. Either way, Paul would win. A 2x larger purse than Tyson, Steroids, 14 oz gloves, a health delay, speed, technology, yadda yadda yadda. I am just glad it is over.

I sit here and reflect on the olden days, when I was younger and had to watch on HBO or Pay Per View for the entertainment. An old pal of mine invited me around 12 years old to a Wrestlemania at his grandmothers house, and I only remember watching Hogan fight, I don’t even remember which one it was. We ordered pizza, his dad got drunk and we were told to be quiet and settle down probably a thousand times. Boxing still gives me chills, as does Muay Thai, BJJ and Greco. So goes the connection to reliance on tech. All I saw for the last 4 days on my phone was this fight, as was all I saw until the election was Trump vs. Kamala. Both events had similar outcomes as in one person lost and one person won.

Both events had favorites and had rigged outcomes in one form or another. No-I am not sad that Trump won, nor would I have been sad if Harris won. It doesn’t impact me as much as people feel that it does. Before we start hopping on the bandwagon with opinions please understand the opinions are irrelevant, yet I will respect them. I simply don’t care. Now, if I want information on things-I have to look it up because the money has already been made. I just wonder what is next for the world……Jake Paul vs. Donald Trump in a battle of wit would be awesome!

It is entertainment that has little value as a result. It was a money driven gamble fest that in many homes was alcohol fueled and less than desirable outcome than a winning season for the Chicago Bears. I saw it in my lifetime and I am thankful that I did…however, I am more thankful that it is over so that I can move on to the next part of my life. That said, it is my youngest daughters one year birthday today. I took this time to get some information and my take out there, so that you had something to do while you got ready to start your aftermorning. You are welcome, now I must tend to the family and live life, without redundant reminders that Tyson/Paul were going to beat the hell out of each other. The fight and the hype were on completely different levels. Goes to show how much trash you CAN fit into a bucket without it spilling. Next time-Vote Quimby!
