We have had the exceptional pleasure of meeting so many amazing people in the last couple of years. Both in person as well as on social media. As we begin the 3rd season of the Gumballhead Sobriety Society, and the First FULL Season of the Normal Isn’t Necessary Podcast, we want to take the opportunity to thank you. Each and EVERY one of you. Everyone has worked hard on their lives to make them better and we want you to know that your efforts in adding myself, as well as my family into a somewhat regular part of your life, is not unnoticed.
In 2024, my family and I went through every single change and emotion possible in the human capacity. We went through love, hate, anger, rage, depression, anxiety, elation…..we went through confusion, loss, capitulation, overcoming adversity, legal issues-financial issues. We made it through job loss, terrible experiences with Air BnB, amazing experiences with Air Bnb, travel, music, amazing food, small business collectives. We exposed our kids to culture and immersed them in experiences they most likely never will have again; all while instilling a Wanderlust they did not know they had-because of their age. We cannot believe how much “Life” we experienced in such a short period of time.
With that said, we have come into 2025 with an amazing mindset and some amazing opportunity to show that love in return. If you follow us closely, or follow us on social media, you will hear us say “Link In Bio’ on a regular basis. While it may be cliche or what have you; we put everything on there. We have increased vendor visibility, we support our friends, we market ourselves and we put the socials to work for us. Those of you who follow us here on our website, we also want to remind you that this is the “Home Base” for all things Gumball. If there are changes, they can be found here. We are updating our resources tab, we are working on a new store and new merchandise, we are working on growing this into an actual business instead of just a hobby. We worked hard, spent a ton of time and money and gone through all of the emotions previously stated-so that you may be able to live vicariously through the bullshit we have overcome, just to share the experience and outcome of our situations.
We took the Podcast on Podbean to an entirely new level by adding “Road Rants” to the series, and are working diligently to bring you a slew of guests in the 2025 year. We will begin our season with our good friend LA Rogers SFX, who is a self-taught SFX artist located in Georgia. We have others lined up, but understand-most of our guests are simply everyday acquaintances or businesses that we ourselves have curated relationships with and want to see them succeed. We take great pride in all that we do and want to make sure that the efforts we observe with others do not go unnoticed. It is not our intention to make anyone famous, just increase the visibility for them so that maybe they too can obtain some success from the efforts they put out there.
A fair majority of the people we promote or speak to are in recovery in one way or another. Recovery is what brought us together, but the pride in overcoming the negative are what drive us to maintain and promote these people. Some of the people/shops we promote are simply just places we visited while we were travelling too. However, that does not mean we have not kept track our in contact with these people. Ranging from “Mr. Nice Guy” in STL to our New Friends at the Modern Viking Beard Company in Ohio (https://www.modernvikingllc.com) and we continue to develop and curate new relationships sometimes on a daily basis.
We feel that the importance, or meaning of life rather, is simply living life-just as the Buddha. We have retreats we are working on, we have recovery programs we will be implementing in the state of Ohio (www.refugerecovery.org) as well as sharing our stories of positive outcomes as we continue to use Alcoholics Anonymous and Freedom Recovery on a regular basis. So many programs out there so we are sure to be able to at least draw your attention to a program that works for you if that is what you desire.
We thank you all for an amazing year of team building, growth, universal love and maybe a little fear-as we travelled and spoke to random people about what we do. Our follower count does not reflect the amount of people that we have met, but simply the amount of people that have made an impact. We look forward to serving you in the 2025 season. The book “Fried Onions: A Gatekeepers Guide To Information From Within” will be releasing this year as well as a work of fiction I am working on called “Thirteen” which explores the mental health and hell of a therapist, working with difficult clientele.
